Melissa admits that she likes food… a lot. "I like to eat food, cook food, bake food and read about food.”
Melissa, the self-styled “Boastful Baker”, continues, “In college, I spent several years working for a local candy and gourmet shop. For most of my adult life, I worked at a local seafood restaurant. In my years there, I worked as a server, bartender and manager.
“In 2008, I left the restaurant business for a job with regular daytime hours and weekends off. However, I did not leave the food industry entirely. I now work for La Tienda, one of the leading retailers of Spanish food in the United States. Most of La Tienda’s sales are online and I’m lucky enough to live near their warehouse and headquarters just outside of Williamsburg, VA.
“I’d like to open a bakery of my own someday…hopefully it will happen in the not so distant future. In the meantime, I’m going to keep cooking and perfecting recipes for potential bakery use.
“As a result of all this food love, I’ve kind of become an amateur food photographer. If this bakery thing doesn’t work out, maybe I’ll take up food photography as a vocation…but for now, it’s just a hobby.”
Melissa’s blog site is a wonderful combination of recipes, insights on food, excellent photographs of dishes and the landscapes which provide some of the ingredients. The site is updated regularly… if your taste buds are up to it you could become an addict of her comments and photographs.http://melissamckelvey.com/
